Genealogy is arguably the largest historical enterprise in the world, and one of the largest data mining operations. 

Data Mining the Deceased is a documentary that takes a probing look at individual and industry stakes in the phenomenon of family history.

There will be a discussion following the screening about current issues of genetic genealogy featuring:

  • Julia Creet, Director of Data Mining the Deceased 
  • Françoise Baylis, Dalhousie University Research Professor
  • Darryl Leroux, Sociologist of Indigenous DNA Claims, Saint Mary’s University.

In partnership with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for Nova Scotia and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
