Association of Black Social Workers: Honouring Our Founders

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Dartmouth North Public Library

In 1979, the Nova Scotia Association of Black Social Workers was founded to address the social welfare needs of the African Nova Scotian community. These founding women were community-minded, socially conscious political advocates who realized that transformational change and collective action was needed to allow the existing system to recognize, and be responsive to, the concerns they were witnessing in their community.

Join us as we honour and recognize the legacy and vision of these social justice pioneers – learn about their struggles and celebrate their achievement in improving the lives of Black communities and families in Nova Scotia.
