Canadian Children's Book Week: Marty Chan

10:45 AM – 11:45 AM

Description

Hosted on Zoom

Students! Have an adventure with "Folktales and Furry Tails with Marty Chan." Marty Chan combines storytelling, technical magic, and audience participation to bring Chinese folktales to life. He’ll share the legend of the first rainbow and how it was created and then invite you to become one of the characters in the story. He’ll also reveal the real-life cats who inspired his picture book, True Story, and share the creative process with some behind-the-scenes images of the illustrations in progress.

Marty Chan writes books for kids, plays for adults, and tweets for fun. He wrote the bestselling Orca novel for reluctant readers, Haunted Hospital. He’s a community builder who has taught workshops across Canada and presented over 1,000 virtual sessions during the pandemic. His latest novel is Final Cut. Marty works and lives in Edmonton with his wife Michelle and their two brand-new kitties.
