National Remembrance of the Chinese Exclusion Act in Canada

3:30 PM – 6:00 PM
Central Library

Description

Please note: Start time has been adjusted to 3:30pm.

2023 marks 100 years since the introduction of the Chinese Immigration Act, better known as the Chinese Exclusion Act, which prevented persons of Chinese origin from entry into Canada for over two decades.

Join us in witnessing the live stream of the National Remembrance Event from Ottawa. This event is an opportunity to recognize the longstanding relationship between Chinese Canadians and Indigenous Peoples in Canada, to enhance a sense of pride and belonging, and to take action against racism.

Prior to the live stream, please join us to enjoy a celebration of Chinese culture in Nova Scotia including presentations on history and clothing.

In partnership with the Action Chinese Canadian Together (ACCT) Foundation, Chinese Society of NS, and the Human Rights Commission
