The Nature of Things: Secret Agents of the Underground Railroad

7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Central Library

Description

CBC, Halifax Public Libraries, and Attraction present a special free screening of Secret Agents of the Underground Railroad followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.

Join Anthony Morgan, one of the new hosts of The Nature of Things, and producer Richard Jean-Baptiste as they share their experience of making this fascinating and poignant film. The film explores how wait-staff at a Niagara Falls NY hotel risked everything to ferry enslaved people to freedom. In doing so, they became unsung heroes of the Underground Railroad and made The Cataract House a focal point for Black Resistance. Their incredible story is revealed by a modern-day team of archaeologists working to recover the hotel’s foundation.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion and Q&A with Morgan, Jean-Baptiste and representatives from The Nature of Things.

Online registration is recommended, but not required. Drop-ins are welcome.
