Chinese Calligraphy: Summer Begins

2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Cole Harbour Public Library

Description

On May 5 this year, it will be considered "Summer Begins" day in the 24 Solar Terms, a traditional lunisolar calendar system in China developed through the observation of the sun's annual movement.

Join us to learn about this fascinating blend of climate observation and astronomy while also practicing Chinese calligraphy with traditional brush pens and xuan paper. You’ll have the opportunity to experience writing with ink and will leave with a fan, adorned with your own calligraphy, as a memento of the summer spirit.
