Jolly Phonics is a 17-week registered program using the Jolly Phonics curriculum. This parent/child interactive program focuses on teaching children the basic skills needed for reading in a fun, engaging way.
For the first half of our program time, parents can relax in the Library to read or connect with other parents while children are in the program room with our facilitators. Then, parents join in for the last hour to learn the concepts with their child to support learning at home. Each week, children are introduced to a letter sound and symbol using a variety of hands-on activities through story, action songs, games, and free play choices for the children to explore.
Jolly Phonics offers weekly take-home activities, including borrowing books from the Musquodoboit Harbour Public Library for shared reading at home. Each child also receives a phonemic assessment conducted periodically during the program.
Snack will be served for the children.
