'The Faces of Our Community' is a free mask-making workshop centred around the relationship between you and the communities you create around you. Each of us is an individual living within a community of family, friends, neighbourhoods, places of worship, cities and towns, provinces, territories and nations. Circles of communities with the individual at the heart.
At the session, you will be invited to create a self-portrait mask, asking the question: ‘What is unique about me?’ Expressing ourselves creatively, using paper mâché, paint, and decorative materials, we will reflect on Canada as a mosaic: a society of individuals that allows difference and diversity by inviting inclusion and cooperation.
This will be an enjoyable yet powerful opportunity to make art, share stories, and see the many faces that shape our community, together.
No experience required as full instruction will be provided. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
This program is facilitated by artists Joy Pennick, Odessa Spore, and Sarah Mosher.
