Batik dyeing dates back to at least the 4th century BC in Egypt. It is a resist dyeing technique, which means that parts of the fabric are protected from the dye by being coated in wax or paste, leaving undyed patterns behind. These patterns may be drawn or stamped onto the cloth before dyeing. We will use these techniques to dye a zippered bag, perfect for use as a pencil case or make-up bag.
