Faces of Community Project: An Exhibition of Expressive Self-Portrait Masks

All Day
Central Library

Description

The Faces of Community exhibition features masks created by over 100 participants who joined one of twelve public mask-making workshops offered across Halifax this past year. With a simple prompt: What is unique about me? Participants crafted their masks using colour, texture, and imagination; conversations flowed and barriers dissolved.

The completed masks and stunning photographs will be showcased in the main lobby of the Halifax Central Library from Saturday, November 29 to Friday, December 12. The exhibition’s official opening will take place on Sunday, November 30 from 3:00-5:00PM, offering visitors an opportunity to meet the makers and take part in a hands-on activity.

The Faces of Community highlights how art can bring people together, nurture well-being, and remind us that community is something we create every day. This program was conceived and facilitated by Joy Pennick, Odessa Spore, and Sarah Mosher.
