Celebrate Lunar New Year: Jixiang Dance for the Mind & Body

10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Woodlawn Public Library

Description

Celebrate Lunar New Year with us by experiencing Jixiang Dance, a traditional art form - jixiang means "auspicious" in Chinese. This uplifting dance is more than movement; it is a cultural expression of gratitude, joy, and prosperity, believed to bring blessings wherever it is performed.

Taught by June, this session includes:

  • A gentle warm-up and grounding practice
  • Learning and practicing one section of the dance at a time
  • Opportunities to revisit and practice the full dance as the program progresses
  • Time at the end for participants to introduce themselves and connect, supporting a sense of community

No prior dance experience is necessary. The program is suitable for adults, youth, and children aged 6 and above, with movements adapted as needed.

Tickets will be provided 30 minutes in advance.
