Many of the most remarkable figures associated with Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax and the Naval Hospital Burying Ground took courageous stands against the defining injustices and challenges of their age. They fought to end slavery, confronted Napoleon’s empire, and defended Canada during the War of 1812. They helped liberate nations in South America, brought wounded soldiers home from Europe during the First World War, and safeguarded the Atlantic lifeline during the Battle of the Atlantic. This presentation focuses on ten of these historic figures and their connection to the burying ground.
