Manuscript completed by Joe R. Lansdale. Reads like Burroughs except for some language and descriptions that Burroughs would never have used. Burroughs died in 1950, a time when authors generally did not describe excessively bloody scenes. In this book Lansdale has intestines falling out of a man's belly, and there is plenty of blood to go around. There is also more up to date language used by the characters, which makes sense for modern readers. Still the story is definitely in the Burroughs style, and the story is quite good. At the end of the book, Tarzan is heading down into the bowels of Earth to the underground world of Pellucidar. Perhaps Lansdale or the publisher intended a sequel, but this never transpired. The story is actually continued in a series of TARZAN comic books published by Dark Horse in the late 1990's.
