I recommend this book if you like Charlotte Bronte's other works. It's a bit different - told from a man's perspective, but well written and I liked the characterization a lot. There are a lot of similarities with Villette but this story has a happier ending. I loved the teacher-student relationship, although she was a little too deferential to him.

As Charlotte Bronte's first novel, it's not her best, but the language is compelling and vivid and the story is fairly interesting.
