For some reason, I have not read anything by Don DeLillo before. I am not even certain how I came across this book. The best thing about it is that it is read by Laurie Anderson. Her voice is perfect for this story. It makes it more melancholy and mysterious somehow. This is not a very long book, but DeLillo's words create a particular image and evocation of a life between two people, one who disappears but maybe reappears as something/someone else.

After his massive, exhaustive "Underworld," Don DeLillo has written four slim, yet dense, novels, which can maybe be describe as minimalist with maximal (9/11, the economy, art) themes. I like DeLillo, but his characters all talk like super smart robots.
