For twenty-eight years, things have been tripping along nicely for Cannie Shapiro. Sure, her mother has come charging out of the closet, and her father has long since dropped out of her world. But she loves her friends, her rat terrier, Nifkin, and her job as pop culture reporter for The Philadelphia Examiner. She's even made a tenuous peace with her plus-size body. But the day she opens up a national women's magazine and sees the words "Loving a Larger Woman" above her ex-boyfriend's byline, Cannie is plunged into misery...and the most amazing year of her life. From Philadelphia to Hollywood and back home again, she charts a new course for herself: mourning her losses, facing her past, and figuring out who she is and who she can become.

" So basically, you're pining for a guy with a small willy who treated you badly."-Maxi

Sometimes it takes a complete stranger(and a few shots of tequila) to put things into perspective. As Maxi does for poor Cannie in this novel. Cannie Shapiro, a newspaper reporter, had the misfortune of having her ex-boyfriend Bruce, who writes for a magazine, write about her in his sex column "Good in Bed". In an article titled "Loving a Larger Woman", Bruce puts Cannie's insecurities about her weight and her sex life out there for public consumption, which makes Cannie want to kill Bruce. Naturally. And since murder isn't a legal option for Cannie, she settles for calling Bruce "small" down there.

"Good in Bed" is my first Jennifer Weiner novel, but not my first time reading a story with a plus size leading character. I thought the novel was smart and at the same time funny.

good "chick" lit read. I really like Jennifer Weiner's books. She writes her characters well and gets you hooked.

This is funny in some ways. She is a large almost 30 yr old and her x-boyfriend writes about her in his new position at a magazine "good in bed" with a large person. He has a ponytail and is addicted to pot, has a small twinky and not sure of himself. She finds herself pregnant after her x's father dies and she sleeps with him one time. She keeps the baby, finds a good female friend with money, tries to loose weight at a center which is where she finds out she is pregnant. Eventually loses the weight and almost the baby. Her mother is a lesbian and her father doesn't even want to know her. Messed up as she is she ends up with the doctor from her weight loss clinic and is for once happy. Great book and only 5 hours long with lots filled in. Finished in one day.....shopped and clean house too.

I enjoyed this book although not as much as I enjoyed her other books. This one the main character got a little too whiny and bitchy at times. Mind you, it was warranted, but I think it dragged on a little longer than it could have. Overall, worth the read though

I loved this book for being about loving a plus sized woman, and being about a plus sized woman not loving herself -- but then, learning to. I love that she got skinny, but found herself back to healthy-- and still outside the barrier of plus-sized. She becomes the woman she admired. Call it chick-lit, call it light, call it fluff, but the reality is, there's real stuff here. Real, good stuff. It takes some depression, some darkness, some lostness, to get to a place of finding yourself transformed.

Although I enjoyed this book, sometimes it could be quite depressing.
