Bambi is a young deer hailed as the 'Prince of the Forest' at his birth. As Bambi grows, he makes friends with the other animals of the forest, in particular a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk named Flower. He learns the skills needed to survive, and he even finds love. One day, however, the human hunters come, and Bambi must learn to be as brave as his father if he is to lead the other deer to safety.

Having recently returned from a Walt Disney World trip, I was ready to catch up on some Disney movies. I went with a classic because I actually had never watched Bambi and I wanted to watch something hand drawn animated versus computer animated. It was much different in story pace and design compared to what Disney is putting out currently, which was refreshing. Watching the extra features is what really made the movie worthwhile. It was fascinating to see the lengths Walt Disney went through to achieve his vision. Hand drawn animation is really an amazing thing to watch and it was nice to go back to that magic

Visually stunning, and a simple but powerful parable about growing up.
I remember being upset by the mother being gunned down when I saw it as a young child. My daughter was prepared for it -- she'd read the story and we discussed it beforehand -- and seemed to take it in a stride.

If you like watching vintage, pre-CGI Disney animated films, then you are sure to be entertained by "Bambi".

This film is now close to 80 years old, yet it is presented in such an impressive way that its excellent animation and thoughtful story-line are virtually timeless and can be enjoyed by all ages.

Originally released back in 1942 - "Bambi" is certainly one of "Disney" studio's more mature and ambitious animated stories that has equal appeal for both children and adults.

In fact, this film's story might be just a little too intense for the very young. But, its fantastic, pre-CGI animation is top-notch all the way.

The quintessential Disney film. I have never read the book, and I discovered something new that I had not remembered: Firstly, that Bambi is a male, and second that the film progresses through the 'childhood' into young adulthood, and finally into maturity - an aspect that I must have forgot (I had only remembered the parts relating to the childhood, especially the winter scene).

Visually stunning, but the songs are fairly dull and what do you mean Flower is a boy?! I admit to being fairly biased as I did not watch Bambi growing up since my deer hunter father called it pro-deer propaganda and I kinda agree. Deer need to be hunted, either by humans or other predators or else they will strip the forests in the winter and throw off the whole ecosystem. Also, in what kind of habitat would a deer monarchy actually work out? It just doesn't make sense.

Hello, darlings! - Released in 1942 - Bambi (a beautifully realized motion picture) would be Disney Studios' 5th animated feature film.

Bambi is an emotionally moving and intricately detailed film about a deer and how the phases of its life clearly parallels the cycle of the seasons in the forest.

Bambi is an extraordinary achievement. It features a number of memorable characters, including the endearing Thumper, a rabbit, who steals every scene that he's in.

This film's screenplay has a bit more bite to it than the average Disney yarn, with equal helpings of comedy and tragedy fuelling a confrontation between the forest animals and that most horrific of two-legged interlopers - man.

*"Bambi" trivia* - Only about a 1000 words of dialogue are spoken throughout the entire film.

When Bambi premiered in London on August 8, 1942, in the midst of WW2, reception to it was extremely poor. It was later re-released in 1947.

Must confess this is the first time I've seen Bambi. I must admit that I was missing out. It's fabulous Walt usually did himself proud and left a legacy
for all the future generations to watch and enjoy. Bless you Walt Disney for doing that so all the next generations don't need to brought up on garbage.
