I love this manga series about a bright-eyed young girl named Yotsuba who has a huge personality. I definitely laughed while reading this manga and shook my head numerous times. This is the first manga series that I ever attempted to read and feel that it is a good starting point in learning how to read manga if you are interested. It does a very good job of making the panels easy to follow.

Despite being categorized as a juvenile title, this series would be most enjoyed by those 18+ not because of adult humour, but because it's that much easier to enjoy the wonder and laughter that (someone else's) child can bring. I find that this manga takes many extremes about children as well as some typical behavior and stuff them into one energy-filled character with no fear of people... or learning! The series is SOOO good in my opinion that I can't bring myself to read them all, but rather savor them every now and then as I travel from one branch to another.

I have loved the Yotsuba! series since volume 2 and am impressed at its consistently high standard in terms of plot, humour and character development. In fact it seems to be getting better all the time! This is probably the best manga series I have read in a long time, barring Kimi ni Todoke.
I haven't reviewed Yotsuba before, so I will start with my general thoughts about the entire series: it is a very gentle slice-of-life series where each chapter (sometimes two) is a separate story. The humour is warm and very gentle and overall it feels charming, adorable and heartwarming. BUT never sickly sweet, precocious or sentimental - a big achievement, in my opinion.
I love this series for two main reasons: firstly, because Yotsuba has realistic behaviour and mannerisms of a preschooler; and secondly, because Yotsuba's dad is very unusual as manga dads go - he works from home and is a single dad and primary caregiver to Yotsuba; he appears extensively in most chapters. (I think this is hugely important and unusual because parents are so often absent from children's stories.) Did I also mention that Mr Koiwai seems like a lovely dad? He is affectionate but firm, not afraid to be a bit silly, and seriously understands his little girl.
Overall - I'm a fan, I think it's great, just read it.

Yotsuba&! is an awesome book because it's funny

I absolutely loved this book and the entire series! You spend the entire book laughing at the silly and sometimes crazy antics of this little 5-year-old green-haired Japanese girl. She tells the world like she sees it and does not censor things (like all children do). She gets into trouble (and paint). And she may use markers on things that aren't washable (like people's faces). This really is such a wonderful story. If you have a bad day, read this book. If you need to laugh a little, read this book. Just do it.

I Love Yotsuba. I've been reading these books 3 times now. From the first to thirteenth. I wish the next one came out soon. I am in 8th grade now and this book makes me laugh all the time I read it. I recommend this book because all age can read this.

Yotsuba&! 5 was soooooo funny! I loved the part when she met Yanda, and the mutual hate for each other they have going on.
