Gee. The Ricardos and the Mertzes haven't spent much time at home the past two seasons, have they? All this traveling of theirs is new to me. At least it feels new, notwithstanding the I Love Lucy reruns I used to watch back in the day, after coming home from half-days of kindergarten.

My favorite moment from this season might be when Lucy finally gets to speak on the phone to little Ricky from Italy (it is Italy, right?) Little Ricky's big smile was priceless. And watching Lucy trying to get along with that concrete block on her foot might be the hardest I've laughed at anything on the show so far. Hilarious!

I've always been mystified by the raves I Love Lucy always receives in the media- I find the comedy stale at best- and mostly not very funny at all. There are many female comedians who ARE actually funny- Carol Burnett comes to mind- and many others, just not poor Lucy.

L.O.L. with Lucy, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel.

After watching these fourteen zany episodes from the show's 5th season, you'll see why I Love Lucy has been voted one of the best TV Sitcoms of the 1950s.

Here we have the Ricardos and the Mertzs leaving Hollywood, but not before Lucy and Ethel do a little last-minute souvenir hunting. Then it's back to NYC where plans for a trip to Europe soon get underway.

So, let the laughs begin.
