if you like, no LOVE bob hoskins, ya gotta see this!! PERFECTION!! see it with the Long Good Friday, starring himself and Helen Mirren and it's British perfection !!I am NOW going through our (PPL) catalogue of Brit 'angry' films of the late 50's and early 60's and we have a bunch of them !!!Luckily, and i mean it, too!! talkin, Rita Tushingham"leather boys" or Lonliness of the long-distance runner", Poor Cow w. Carol White, Tom Courtney in Billy Liar, ,little bit later-ish shite like "oh, Lucky Man", Mike Leigh's "Naked" w/Katrin Catlidge and what's his face Best Performance Acting DAVID THEWLIS....,albert Finney and ohhh kay...i feel better...I just asked a LIBRARIAN what he thought of Thewlis' performance in that film,,,and he never heard of it.(all small letters, notice ??) i am shocked. not so much that people don't know of these raw treasures but they Have No Clue. okay, where are you out there??Look for me...i'm in Portland in dire straights and more than eager to share in the beauty, artistry, emotion and so on.....these boobs wanna see cartoon movies, or science-fiction re-re treads nowhere even close to Harryhausen!!!, and cheesy comicbook blather. 2001, Space Odyssey is 50 y.o. this year, i think, and where is the competition ?? This is a 1986 British neo-noir mystery directed by Neil Jordan.
It is about an ex-convict who becomes entangled in the dangerous life of a high-class call girl.
In this film, you'll see the seedy underworld and nothing more, but it is a relief that you see heart-warming relationship between the ex-con and his daughter at the end.

Great acting by Hoskins and Caine as well as everyone else. British accents of Hoskins are sometimes hard to follow. Jordan is a great storyteller as usual.

Good acting by the principals, but hard to figure out what the point of it all is ...

Suspenseful, with great acting by Bob Hoskins. A strong sense of the city of London.
