A sweet little movie. I struggled a bit trying to figure out who this movie is for (it's too mature for kids, bot not exactly adult fare, so maybe it's for middle schoolers?). I also couldn't decide whether or not it has an actual plot, but honestly none of that really matters too much. This is a lovely and whimsical little movie that's probably lesser Studio Ghibli but the standard of quality is so high it's definitely worth a look.

This is my personal favorite of all the Ghibli movies. Very good coming of age tale, and is inspiring. It does a great job of taking a snap shot of the mid 90s and just before the advent of the internet. Oddly enough it reminds of going to the library when I was young and how much I do miss the old card system...

"Whisper of the Heart" is one of those Studio Ghibli coming-of-age stories that tells about a girl who wants to come into her own. This movie features a Japanese version of "Country Roads," and I still hum it every so often! 4.5 Stars.

Enjoyed this film very much, from the artwork, to the animation, to the acting and the music, as well as the excellent storyline--which was quite realistic. Excellent!

Amazing film, and among the best Studio Ghibli have ever made.

It has that beautiful late-90s animation charm that a lot of the more recent animated film's don't have, and the Japanese voice acting was simply amazing - I particuarly enjoyed the Japanese translation of 'Country Roads' worked into the film. And the fact that many of the characters were bookworms helped me out a lot! But I think the thing that got me most was how relevant the film was to my situation, wanting to become a writer but being scared of failing.

It felt like such a natural story of struggles, of falling in love and trying to bring out the best inside yourself. Among many of Studio Ghibli's films, I feel at least, it felt the most 'real', and that is likely why I would place it among my favorites.

Wow, what a sweet, gently-paced film. It was relaxing to watch. The storyline includes romance, adventure, drama, and a little bit of magic. I also enjoyed the music--variations of John Denver's song "Country Roads."

Whisper of the Heart does not often get the praise it deserves. It's not commonly claimed as a 'favorite Ghibli movie', but personally, I love it. It has a very grounded setting, with a very realistic look at urban Japanese life, with a heartfelt message. The music's pretty good, if a bit limited.

An incredibly realistic depiction of young teenagers falling in love. There is some great stuff in here about teenagers having ambitions and ideas that they may be too young to pull off yet. The movie shows how the parents let the children discover their limits on their own.

All ages, however, it is very slow going, and is less likely to be appreciated by anyone under 9 or 10.

Great movie. Nice, simple and sweet. I love Studio Ghibli movies! They're always so sweet and innocent, and I love the fantasy element in them. I loved the story of the Baron, and I fell in love with Seiji! A proper type of hero.

I totally enjoy all of the Hayao Miyasaki and Studio Ghibli films. The anime and story lines are great for any age and i loved watching them with my nieces as well.

Other: Language and sexual issues; mild but still not the greatest. Shizuku, after being annoyed with Seiji (after she not formerly met him) repeatedly says, "Stupid Jerk!" as she walks home. A woman is shown in her bra.
