"He's gentle, old-fashioned, and decent; nice even when he's drunk. But these qualities only earn Detective Constable 'Dangerous' Davies (Peter Davison, Campion, All Creatures Great and Small) the scorn of his fellow detectives in a small London police station. His boss tells him straight out that he's the last detective he would assign to a major crime-solving mission. Unlucky in love, rumpled, and accident prone, Dangerous muddles on and, with the help of his eccentric friend Mod (Sean Hughes, The Commitments), he proves the merits of his dogged, unglamorous method. He likes being a detective and, occasionally, he gets to do some good. Based on the Dangerous Davies novels by Leslie Thomas."--Container.

I like the whole series. It is important to watch them in the proper order so you don't miss the subtle meaning in the script. The script is strong. It is not to sexual. It has too many murders for a young audience. The main character, DC Davies is very dedicated, tenacious, and persistent. He has a softer approach to people compared to the officers that works better. He successfully finds out secrets that solve the cases the other officers can't do. The employer is very slow to tell Davies he has done a good job. The co-workers treat him with disrespect and tease him a lot. Davies is very patient with everyone. Davies always tries to do the right thing and be honest at all times. He has a conscious. Davies gets stuck with the less glamorous jobs.

Tried to watch this but had trouble with some of the accents especially when there was annoying loud soundtrack.

Former Dr Who and Siegfried's brother in All Creatures Great and Small, never did get attached to him as an actor, and the cursing in the movie for no apparent reason was too much as well..... just a taste was enough....

I enjoyed the first episode. I thought Dangerous Davis enduring, but when I was watching the second episode I became bored with this character. I don't like the fact that he is bullied. How can a person who is bullied and continues to just take it be entertainment? Perhaps I take this too seriously??????

Totally agree with all the 4- and 5-star reviews. Lovely and hilarious subtlety everywhere throughout this series. The very kind and nice detective - who really detects, apparently unheard of in his precinct - and who gets imposed on hilariously by his friend Mod, subtly hit on by his landlady once his wife kicks him out, abused by his coworkers ("workers" - here meaning ass-kissers)and on and on. Discontinuation of this series was a huge loss to me, the worst in all TV seriesdom. Truly.
