"In the lush tropics of South America, an innocent desire blossoms into a romance for the ages in this stunning epic starring Academy Award nominee Javier Bardem (Before Night Falls, No Country for Old Men). At the turn of the 20th century, youthful romantic Florentino Ariza spots the stunning and sheltered Fermina Daza and immediately falls in love. Denied by her father, Florentino refuses to give up his dream of winning her hand... even if that means waiting decades to fill the passion in his heart."--Container.

Unfortunately, this movie did not do this magnificent book justice.

Ignore the burnt-out critics. Marquez, who deeply mistrusted Hollywood and refused to relinquish the rights for over a year, apparently was greatly enthused by this adaptation. It's a lush, magnetic rendition of a great novel.

One cannot get enough of this beautiful love story filmed in Columbia. One however may also find Javier Bardem's character "Florentino" nothing more than a poor soul filled with delusion, obsession and infatuation about Femina as played by Giovanna Mezzogiorno. I personally enjoyed "Love in the time of Cholera."

All of the performances are terrible, stilted and wooden. I gave up on this movie halfway through.

One of my favorite books, but the movie is terrible. It should have been done in Spanish, and even the producers say that on the behind the scenes. The actors just don't pull it off. The magic of the book and the intensity of the romance is not captured.

Very pretty scenery. Beyond that, not much to get behind in this long, boring romantic drama. I guess the acting was pretty good, but the story was awful. Throw in a geriatric sex scene and you have one of the worst romantic dramas I have ever seen.

Absolutely beautiful

TOUCHING AND SAD. A CHICK FLICK FOR WHEN YOU FEEL YOU NEED A LITTLE CRY. OR JUST ENJOY THE GREAT ACTING.

"I am nothing. I will not heal. Not for all time. I'm struck by the lightening of love and burned beyond repair. She's a splinter that cannot be pulled out. She's part of me. Everywhere I go, everywhere she is." - Florentino Ariza
