The type of story I can see being told around a campfire....ghosts, danger, murder, weird sightings, good vs evil. Thoroughly entertaining. Place names and characters have Russian names which can be hard to get used to, but the translation is in excellent English. There is a final note in which the translator shows various influences of other authors in Akunin's story. I think I'll read more of Akunin's stories.

Second book of the trilogy of Pelagia. Very twisty story, you would never guess the culprit.
