"Chasing Shadows is a thrilling, new four-part drama set in a missing persons unit that hunts serial killers. Reece Shearsmith (The Widower, Inside Number 9) plays DS Sean Stone and Alex Kingston (ER, Doctor Who) stars as his partner, Ruth Hattersley, while Noel Clarke (Star Trek Into Darkness, Doctor Who) takes on the role of DI Carl Prior. Sean is intense and socially awkward, a misfit who is happier dealing with data rather than people. His lack of people skills and forthright honesty make him some powerful enemies in the force and he finds himself exiled to Missing Persons. Ruth is the analyst from the Missing Persons Bureau tasked with working alongside Sean. She puts people first--a born connector able to get on with anyone, but Sean pushes even her patience to the breaking point. DI Prior has ambitions and a clear plan for rising up the ranks, but all this is jeopardized when DS Stone becomes his responsibility."--Container.

An enjoyable four episode series about a difficult cop (it's never stated, but it seems very likely that the character is autistic) who is transferred to missing persons. Reece Shearsmith does a really good job in the role. Also starring Alex Kingston and Noel Clarke from Doctor Who (along with a few others who have been the odd Who episode here and there), this is good piece of British crime drama. The series covers two cases each taking up two episodes each. The only downside that keeps this from being really superb, is that the last episode ends on the cliffhanger of a person close to the main character disappearing. So far, this series (which aired in 2014) has not returned. Otherwise, if you can look past an unresolved ending, it's a very good show.

Interesting premise, fine performances. I have no idea why ITV cancelled this series after only 4 episodes, and on a cliffhanger, at that. The user ratings for this are all between 7 and 8. The show never missed a beat, was entirely plausible and the audience became invested in the characters, which made the last, unresolved, missing person especially heartbreaking. This was a missed opportunity ITV. I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Police Procedural with a twist]. Just a side note for Whovians, two of the principal players were Mickey Smith (2005-2010) and River Song (2008-2017).

The main characters made this British whodunit gritty, focused, and sensitive all at the same time. Twisted plots, no frills action, good acting made me believe in the stories. Enjoyed.

A socially retarded police inspector who is a genius at solving crimes meets a female detective who works her way into his good graces through sound police work. Very entertaining.
