I enjoyed this book a lot. The husband, Steve, responds to his wife's adultery by trying to learn more about her partner, which offends the wife's sense of "shoulds". The wife hides her feelings and makes statements that seem counter-intuitive and unconstructive. Yet the therapist treats these as human responses and helps the spouses understand each other and respond. Similarly nonjudgmental therapist responses give both partners room to change, grow, and develop a stronger relationship. For the therapist, the perspective of the marriage (as well as of each individual) also needs to be considered; eventually, the reader also starts to consider what the marriage would say. Written by a lawyer, the book offers a pragmatic, thoughtful, unique, and very readable view on how couples who have almost reached the point of divorce might mend.

A small, but rathering interesting take on a marriage falling apart, how both parties are responsible in some manner, how good people can or cannot change over time and whether this partnership in life will succeed I enjoyed the somewhat unusual venue of where this all takes place. Nothing great, but more interesting than one would think.

An interesting approach to telling a story of a marriage. Not great but I was drawn into the story and zipped through it quickly.
