August Pullman has had a craniofacial abnormality and has been homeschooled his whole life because of this. However, when middle school comes, his mom wants him to learn more than she can teach him, so he is sent to Beecher Prep. Most of the kids don’t bother him, but some are different, and he ends up getting hurt by one of his closest friends. Wonder takes the simple message of being kind to those who are different to another level. The text is elementary with very literal meanings making it a great read for novices.
