I'm not sure how much of this was historically/biographically accurate but if you love his books, you will adore this movie. Middle Earth was my first love. My father read The Hobbit to me as a child and I haven't fallen out of love with it. Tolkien's passion for languages and mythology comes through with such subtle yet gorgeous images of brave knights on horseback and the outlines of wraiths in the WWI trenches. It is as if the fantastic world in his head was just hidden in the shadows of his waking life waiting for him to bring them to life. All in all, it captured why his fans still hold his work so dear to their hearts.
